Testing Information
EXAMINATIONS [8 AAC 90.115]
Before scheduling a test, we must process and approve your application packet. This process takes 7-10 business days.
Department testing is offered in Anchorage, Juneau, and Fairbanks on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Proctored testing in other cities in Alaska is offered through the Department of Labor Job Centers. Alaska-based plumbing and electrical unions offer testing at their facilities. Contact the appropriate union hall for details.
Contact the Anchorage office for special requests or testing accommodations.
A government issued picture ID must be presented at the time of testing. There is a four (4) hour maximum time limit on all exams. A score of at least 70 percent is required for passing all tests except Boiler Operator 2nd Class which is 60 percent. If a passing score is not obtained you must wait 30 days from the date of your last exam before re-testing.
Exam results will be emailed to you. Please wait 5 - 7 working days before calling the office for results of exams taken in any city other than Anchorage.
